Moxie's Big Chance

Well, Moxie is now sitting on a dozen eggs kindly provided by a local farmer. She spent the last week to 10 days sitting on nothing, but looking so serious that I knew we needed to get her some fertile eggs to sit on. We slid them under her rear end and she accepted them instantly. I checked this morning and they were toasty warm. Moxie is doing a great job so far.

**Update on day 3 (7/21) Moxie got up for some corn chip crumbs and went into her yard for the first time in many days.  I checked the eggs. One was really cold since it had slipped to the far edge of her strange "nest" so I discarded it. The other 11 are toasty.  I wonder if she is going to give up.
*** Update on day 7 Moxie is still sitting and is very serious about it but I had to toss out another very cold egg that had rolled out from under her. So she has 10. She has fashioned a nest of shavings in a mound shape . This may not work but she is still giving it her all.

Crocheted Hair Spirals for Little Girls

I don't have girls so I have not had many chances to make things like this! This was a fun project and my spirals did get better as I went on. Anyway, I modified a pattern so I could use the size crochet hook I had on hand- 6mm- J/10. I also used a YouTube video to get the basics of spiral-making. These spirals can be tied over ponytail or pigtail elastics. For the white ones I made a chain of 20 and then made the spiral by diving into each link and doing 4 single stitches. At the end of the spiral I did another chain of 10 and then 20. The 20 became the second spiral. After tying off I wove and snipped the ends. The pink ones have 20 links between the spirals.
